Topcem Cement, in association with Sri Sankardev Nethralaya and Eye Doctor’s Institute, has been annually organizing Free Eye Check-Up and Cataract Surgery Camp for the economically weaker section of the society. Cataract is the most significant cause of bilateral blindness in India. Although treatable by a medical professional, many cases remain untreated due to the expenses involved in the treatment of cataract. Topcem Cement along with their medical associates has extended support to more than 180 economically backward patients belonging to the rural areas of Assam and Meghalaya. A biannual affair, such camps have been organized since 2018 at places like Boko, Mangaldoi, Barnihat, Tamulpur and Nagaon to help people avail free of cost treatment that was hitherto inaccessible to them.
